Why “God Ordained Fitness? Anyone feel like they need a refresh in life? In your workouts? In your routine? Feel pulled a million different directions and too exhausted to even think of working out? Too busy with the kids' schedules and there simply just isn’t enough time in the day. Or maybe you’re so tired of getting in shape for the big event or reunion, only to fall off the workout wagon once it’s over? Friends, it has to be bigger than us. Fitness has to be bigger than us. Life has to be bigger than us. And that’s where God Ordained Fitness comes in. Let me share one of my favorite verses with you that has been the driving force behind God Ordained Fitness: "Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT). Wow. How incredibly exciting and mind blowing it is that we have the power of the Living God residing in us! But along with that comes some responsibility. So How do we honor God with our body? In a few words: You have to take care of it; you get in shape. Because the better shape you are in, the more energy you’ll have and God can use you more effectively. When I take that mindset into my workout, I am refreshed with a newfound energy for the exercises ahead and for my goals ahead. It becomes so much bigger than being just about me. Now I have a God sized mission to pour myself, my thoughts, and all my efforts into. That’s what I want our God Ordained Community to be about. Shifting the focus off of ourselves, focusing on Christ and how we can honor Him, and be used in a way to impact The Kingdom. That means inviting God into your workouts, leaning on Him when you’re struggling to make it through a final set. Philippians 4:13 tells us “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” I want you to experience your workouts in a way that is far greater than yourself. I want you to experience fitness that is God Ordained.
Welcome to the God Ordained Fitness Community! I am so glad you’re here. I am so excited to use my passion for fitness as a tool to honor God, and encourage others who are searching for more, not just in their workouts, but in life. So a little about me…I’m an athlete at heart. I have always loved fitness. I was a Collegiate Gymnast at the University of Alabama. I had a career ending back injury that lead to an extreme identity crisis and I poured myself into working out, became a personal trainer, ran marathons, and was obsessed with body image. Very quickly, my already obsessive and unhealthy behaviors became life consuming and out of control. I was at rock bottom and didn’t know my way out. I can still remember a mentor of mine saying to me, “Courtney, you’ve been working your whole life on your body, let God work on your heart.” And while it was no snap of the fingers, that perspective shift not only changed my life, it saved my life. So fast forward 2 decades, I’m a certified personal trainer and while my passion still is fitness, my approach has completely changed. The amount of time I spend in the gym has drastically decreased, and my motivation during those workouts has changed from achieving the idolized perfect body, to a means of worship and glorifying God through moving this body He created! Over the past 15 years, after leaving the fitness world, working in corporate America, having 2 kids, and coming back into the industry, I have learned so much and I can’t wait to share it with you and do this together! I want you to experience so much more than a great workout. I want you to experience fitness that’s God ordained. Let’s go do this!
